Most people don't realize just how many hours go into producing one book (or many). Many volunteer hours, numerous hired hours and a whole lot of love...... lets have a bit of a look:
Whats really in the making of a book? from Manuscript to Published.... a closer look...
Editing: Hours upon hours of editing the grammar, punctuation, spelling and wordage. If translating...many more hours going back and forth capturing the true essence and meaning of the author's message within the literal translation of the words.
ISBN: Checking all isbn#s if already established, or assigning new which includes purchasing and assigning to each version as its own product. Converting isbn into a barcode is needed for printed cover also.
Cover Design: Visioning and translating that vision into layers of graphics, including images, color, textures and font design until the final result tells the same story the designer wanted to bring forward from the book onto the cover. Next comes converting the color story of the graphics to communicate properly with the printers. Finally, choosing papers and coatings, and proofing proof after proof of the colors until the desired look is achieved.
Formatting the Text: Choosing the fonts for titles, contents, headers, quotes and dedications and then of course the text itself.
Format Layout: next, making sure the words land on the proper pages, and paragraphs or sentences start at the proper places.
Centering: making sure all pages with special titles, or quotes are centered nicely.
Proofing & Review: Page upon page scrolling to review that no words were missed in formatting, and all layouts held in place, no lingering words left to themselves on the next page, and paragraphs all aligned so no two bumped into each other or abandoned each other along the way.
Checking: for titles, fonts, spacings and page layout making sure everything looks print ready.
Formatting the Ebooks: Once the master file is completed, next we build the ebooks , that's ebooks for general public and ebooks for Kindle readers two different versions. Attaching covers and checking all meta data and tags for proper information.
Various Formats: Now to offer the ebooks online, creating product listing, imagery and uploading the files for purchase. Testing, proofing all works well.
Marketing: researching and finding various etailers to sell our ebooks online also. Setting up applications and accounts for this store and that store until everything begins so flow in the market for sales.
Printing: Raising funds if needed to print the book/s, pick up upon completion. Inventory and storage set in place. (Everything the printer goes thru to set up each job... well, thats a whole 'nother story.)
And last but not least.. promoting them so that you find out when they are ready to purchase. I think that pretty much covers it.... VOILA!
